The esports track will center around the industry’s most competitive titles and will function as a method of introducing mainstream gamers to the world of cryptocurrency and blockchain assets, including digital collectibles and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
To kick off the partnership, Polyient Games and Community Gaming will be hosting The Phoenix Series, a $20,000 three-part CS:GO event. The first installment will begin April 24-25th, with a $5000 open tournament. Prize payouts for the series will be in both USD and Polyient Games Unity Token (PGU), the reward redemption currency for the Polyient Games Ecosystem.
The tournaments will be hosted by Community Gaming and streamed live on the Polyient Games Twitch channel.
“The marriage between decentralized technology and gaming will be one of the most significant themes of the coming decade,” said Craig Russo, Polyient Games co-founder. “Our work with Community Gaming on this brand new decentralized tournament series serves as a major step towards bringing mainstream adoption to this new industry.”
The blockchain games track will be focused on the indie game arena, featuring some of the most highly played blockchain-enabled games such as Axie Infinity, Gods Unchained, and Skyweaver. This track will have ties with the Polyient Games Ecosystem, the industry-leading blockchain gaming and NFT platform that features unique decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, including the first dedicated decentralized exchange for in-game currencies.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Polyient Games to get crypto and NFTs into the hands of thousands of mainstream gamers who are just now starting to learn about and own these assets,” said Chris Gonsalves, CEO of Community Gaming.
